In Underground Mining and Tunnelling there is a lot of work which is either
a) very dangerous
b) to the limits of the physical strength of humans.
In extreme conditions, like a fire or poisonous gas inrush or heavy radiation, the access to certain underground areas is not possible.
To master critical situations or rescue tasks there is a need for mobile working machines, Robots, to enter such area and do work there.
Therefor research initiatives for Robots in underground work are necessary and we are part of one new initiative together with partners.
